Rotation and Orbit
Earth's rotations happen very fast compared to other planets.
Without this rotation life would not exist due to tempachues fluctiating to wildly and making extreme conditions.
Due to our planet rotating the Sun every 365 and a 1/4 days, The 1/4 of a day gives us the leap year and without the 1/4 day the leap year would not coraspond with calenders.
The axis of Earth is slightly tilted, this gives us the four seasons due to certain areas of the planet are farther away or closer to the sun. So nights and days will be diffrent lenghts and occur at diffrent times.
Summer or winter solstice is the point in time were earth is at its maximum tilt in either closer or farther from the sun.
